Image Consultant, Wardrobe Stylist.
Growing up, I would spend Saturday mornings shopping with my mom on the Avenue of Fashion, Himelhoch's, B Spiegel, Birmingham Jacobson's, and downtown at J. L. Hudson's and Saks Fifth Avenue. My mother instilled in me a sense of fashion and personal style. She was an example of "Class Personified," introducing and influencing me to the world of fashion during my formative years as a young lady.
I recall becoming a "trendsetter" with my friends. They would ask me what "looked good" and how they could make a statement when it was time for us to go and enjoy the town, looking our best and turning heads. I was one that never conformed to the basic wear. I can reflect on when I attended a party at sixteen. It was a dressy event, and I wore a formal gown while everyone else showed up casually dressed, wearing tennis shoes and slacks. I always knew that I had a flare for fashion, but at that moment, I realized the importance of trend-setting whenever you wanted to make a statement. While working in real estate full-time, I worked part-time at J.L. Hudson in the Oval Room. WOW, I had the need to be around style, plus I wanted the employee discount. I fell in love learning about the beautiful dresses and designer styles. I had a yearning to learn about the different textiles, fabrics, and designers and what could be worn with what. This sparked my desire and love for fashion and my craving to become an entrepreneur. I knew there had to be a way to dress like a Diva on a dime.

Fast Forward to 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to start a business for what is known today as Genise's Closet. Like several of my friends and acquaintances at home, I had clothes I was not wearing, and I wanted to get rid of them. I turned my four-bedroom home into a store. I have been a personal stylist and image consultant for 40 years. I now wanted to bring all my experience together and supply a full complement of fine clothing and styling. Therefore, I launched Phase II of my business with shopping and styling for others. Genise's Closet offers a full range of new and pre-loved clothing ranging from formal ware to active ware, sizes 0-5XL to included shoe sizes 5-12.

I welcome my clients to come and shop with me and enjoy a fuzzy, clean, warm unrushed atmosphere that is relaxing and welcoming. If you are not a client, become one today!
